KATHMANDU: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has lifted the suspension on Sandeep Lamichhane, who was acquitted of rape charges by the Patan High Court on Wednesday.
“Since the respected Patan High Court has acquitted Sandeep Lamichhane of the rape charge, we inform all that the suspension on Lamichhane from all domestic and international cricket activities has been lifted,” CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand said in a statement issued on Wednesday evening.
The decision has made Lamichhane available for selection in the Nepali national team to play in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
However, since CAN has already named its 15-member squad for the World Cup, it will have to withdraw one player by specifying valid reasons to accommodate Lamichhane in the national team.
