Lamichhane, 28 others charged with cooperative fraud in Parsa Rabi Lamichhane

KATHMANDU: A case has been lodged in the Parsa District Court against 29 individuals, including Rabi Lamichhane, the president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), for alleged cooperative fraud.

According to Ananta Raj Neupane, Information Officer at the Parsa District Government Attorney’s Office, the case was registered in connection with the misappropriation of funds from the Sano Paila Savings and Credit Cooperative in Birgunj.

The case against Lamichhane includes a claim for damages amounting to Rs 115.69 million. Similarly, a claim for Rs 72.09 million has been filed against Chhabilal Joshi, a retired DIG of Nepal Police.

Among those charge sheeted, Lamichhane and Joshi are in custody at the Rupandehi Prison Office. Similarly, Ram Bhakta Khanal and Pramod Bhattarai are in police custody in Kaski. Bhupendra Rai, Sagar KC, Manisha Pandey, Deepak Lama, Bishal Tamang, Kabita Tamang, Bhagawati Bamjan, Khimananda Kandel, Navin Achhami, Hemanta Adhikari, Deepika Rai, Ravina Rimal, Iran Lama, Sabina Ale Magar, Bhakta Bahadur Bholan, Pradeep Lama, Sabita Lama, Shanti Kumari Subedi, Ganesh Raj Shrestha, Sunita Newa, Roman Kafle, Kamal Lama, Kalpana Kumari Shrestha, Raju Baral and Navaraj Raut are currently on the run.
