KATHMANDU: The Special Court has handed a three-year prison sentence and a fine of Rs 256.9 million to Lambodar Neupane, a former chairperson of Nepal Engineering College, on money laundering charges.
The Special Court had found Neupane guilty on April 7.
A division bench of Special Court Chairperson Tek Narayan Kunwar and Member Ram Bahadur Thapa sentenced Neupane to three years in prison and a fine of Rs 256.9 million on Sunday.
The Special Court found Neupane guilty of transferring assets of a social institution to his name. He had been accused of embezzling Rs 128.48 million.
Earlier, the Special Court had handed a jail term of three years and a fine of Rs 3.9 million to Neupane, along with CIAA Commissioner Raj Narayan Pathak, after Neupane was found guilty of bribing Pathak to settle money laundering charges against him.
