KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has removed Minister for Labor, Employment, and Social Security Deepak Kumar Sah from his cabinet.
Shah took the decision based on the recommendation of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane.
Sah was sworn in as Minister for Labor, Employement and Social Security on March 27.
Lamichhane had recommended Prime Minister Shah for Minister Sah’s dismissal earlier on Thursday. “A study conducted by the party’s Central Disciplinary Commission found that Minister Sah misused his position while in office to have his wife regularized as a member of the Health Insurance Board, where she had remained inactive for a long time,” the letter states. “Since Clause 25 (4) (a) of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) statute assigns the party chair the responsibility to uphold the party’s ideals, principles, and dignity, while Clause 69 provides for a ‘right to recall’ from responsibility in cases of misuse of position, I recommend you for Minister Sah’s dismissal.”
On Tuesday, the party’s Central Disciplinary Commission had recommended that President Lamichhane take necessary action against Minister Sah.
Lamichhane has also urged Prime Minister Sah to caution Minister for Health and Population Nisha Mehta for not demonstrating sufficient seriousness in discharging her responsibilities on such a serious issue.
