Kristin Harila, Tenjen Sherpa fastest to summit 14 Peaks

KATHMANDU: Norwegian climber Kristin Harila and Tenjen (Lama) Sherpa of Nepal have accomplished an impressive feat by climbing all 14 8,000-meter peaks in just 92 days.

Kristin and Tenjen reached the summit of Mt K2, the second highest peak of the world, at around 11:30 am on Thursday, according to Seven Summit Treks.

They broke the record set by Nirmal Purja Magar who achieved the feat in six months and six days when he summited Mr Sishapangma of China on October 29, 2019.

The two opened the 14-peak campaign by climbing Mt Shishapangma of China on April 26, 2023. They then reached the summits of Cho Oyu on May 3, Makalu on May 13, Kanchenjunga on May 18, Everest on May 23, Lhotse of May 23, Dhaulagiri on May 29, Annapurna on June 5 and Manaslu on June 10, before heading to Pakistan to climb its five eight-thousands.

Their Pakistan leg began with the successful summit of Nanga Parbat on June 26, followed by Gasherbrum II on July 17, Gasherbrum on July 18, and Broad Peak on July 23.
