KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has accused party President Sher Bahadur Deuba of fostering factionalism within the party.
Addressing a program organized in Kathmandu on Monday to commemorate Krishna Prasad Bhattarai’s 101st birth anniversary, Koirala said factionalism has flourished within the party because Deuba refuses to listen to other leaders. Koirala said that he had to resort to the 40/60 power-sharing arrangement within the party because Deuba is not ready to listen to and accommodate other leaders’ concerns.
“If the President is not listening to all, it creates difficulties for those involved in politics. We need to understand this,” Koirala said. “We can’t remain silent just because we are accused of engaging in quota politics.”
