KMC demolishes NC leader Deepak Khadka’s party palace

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has demolished structures built by Khadka Land Development Pvt Ltd on the premises of Nepal Scouts in Lainchaur, Kathmandu.

Khadka Land Development is owned by Nepali Congress leader Deepak Khadka. He was Minister for Energy, Irrigation and Water Resources in the KP Sharma-led government, which was toppled by the Gen Z protests.

The company, which had taken three ropanis of land on the Nepal Scouts premises, was unlawfully using about 12 ropanis for the Lainchaur Banquet.

Nepal Scouts had issued a seven-day notice to the company on November 6 to clear its outstanding dues. However, as the company failed to make the payment by the stipulated timeframe on Wednesday, the Nepal Scouts wrote to the KMC for the removal of the structures.

A team from KMC demolished the structures on Thursday, according to Rajunath Pandey, chief of KMC’s Municipal Force.

Pandey also said structures built on the premises had not obtained official building approval.
