KATHMANDU: The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha state of India has agreed to arrange classes and hostel accommodations for Nepali students, the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi said in a statement on Monday evening.

“As per the request from this embassy, the educational institution has informed us that they will arrange hostel accommodation and conduct classes for Nepali students,” the embassy said in the statement.

The embassy added that the KIIT has expressed commitment to conducting an independent and impartial investigation into the death of Prakriti Lamsal, a Nepali student studying in the third year of BTech.

“The embassy is in touch with Nepali students, the Indian government and the Odisha Chief Minister’s Office, and receiving necessary support from these institutions,” it added.

Meanwhile, the KIIT has issued a statement, urging Nepali students to return to the university. “An appeal is made to all our Nepali students who have or plan to leave the campus to return and resume the classes,” the KIIT said in the statement.
