KATHMANDU: Khumaltar Youth Club defeated table toppers Jawalakhel Youth Club 4-2 to earn its fifth win in the Marty’s Memorial ‘A’ Division National League at the ANFA Complex, Satdoabto, on Friday.
Stephane Binong scored a hattrick, while Messouke Oloumou scored the team’s fourth as Khumaltar consigned Jawalakhel to its fifth loss in the ongoing league.
Binod KC scored one goal for Jawalakhel, while Khumaltar’s Rohit Subba scored an own goal.
Binong opened the scoring in the 20th minute of the game, but Khumaltar conceded an own goal in the 42nd minute of the match. Binong scored his second in the injury time of the first half to give Khumaltar a 2-1 lead at halftime. The Cameroon striker completed his hattrick in the 51st minute.
Jawalakhel tried to claw back in the game as Binod KC scored in the second minute of the injury time of the second half to make the score 3-2. However, Messouke scored two minutes later to end Jawalakhel’s hope.
Despite the loss, Jawalakhel sits at the top of the table with 24 points from 15 games with seven wins, three draws and five losses. Khumaltar climbed to 10th in the table with 17 points from 15 games with five wins and two draws.
Himalayan Sherpa defeats Nepal Police 2-1
In another match of the league played at the Dasharath Stadium, Himalayan Sherpa Club defeated Nepal Police Club 2-1 to claim its fifth win in the league.
Abayomi Fakunle and Amrit Shrestha scored for Himalayan, while Saujan Rai scored for the departmental side.
Abayomi opened the scoring for Himalayan in the 14th minute of the match. Saujan leveled the score in the 20th minute. But Shrestha scored the winner in the 51st minute.
With this, Himalayan Sherpa climbed to seventh in the table with 20 points from 15 matches. Nepal Police has dropped to the relegation zone with 15 points from as many games.
