KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Minister for Finance Rameshore Khanal has announced that fragmented and unprepared projects included in the budget for fiscal year 20025/26 will be scrapped.
Minister Khanal made the announcement after assuming office at the Ministry of Finance in Singha Durbar on Monday.
“Projects lacking proper groundwork will not move forward. We will cancel unprepared, piecemeal projects. Every expenditure will be evaluated carefully before moving ahead,” Khanal said.
Khanal has also decided to form a task force to conduct a necessary study to remove such projects.
The former finance secretary also said that he was committed to implementing the recommendations made by the High-Level Economic Reforms Advisory Commission formed under his leadership.
“We will send out the message that we are rising from the ashes—starting right here from the Ministry of Finance,” he added.
