Khagaraj Adhikari becomes UML’s parliamentary party leader in Gandaki

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML has unanimously elected Khagaraj Adhikari as its parliamentary party leader in Gandaki Province Assembly.

The meeting of the party’s parliamentary committee held on Sunday took the decision to this extent.

Parties must have 31 seats to form government in the 61-member Gandaki Province Assembly. UML and Maoist have a combined 30 seats. If Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) decides to join the government, which is now looking likely, the coalition will have 32 seats.

As these three parties are the members of the six-party alliance formed at the center, Adhikari is likely to become the next chief minister of Gandaki Province.
