KATHMANDU: Rector Dr Khadga KC has been handed the responsibility of officiating Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University.
The position became vacant after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli accepted the resignation of Vice-Chancellor Keshar Jung Baral on Thursday.
According to the TU Act, the Rector will assume the responsibility of Vice-Chancellor in the absence of the Vice-Chancellor.
The government will now have to begin the process of selecting a new Vice-Chancellor by forming a three-member recommendation committee. The committee, led by Pro Chancellor, will have two members of the Assembly as its members.
Baral, who was appointed Vice-Chancellor by the previous government on February 27, stepped down after only 13 months in office due to ‘non-cooperation’ by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
