POKHARA: The Kaski District Court has refused to immediately withdraw cases filed against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane.
A single bench of District Judge Neetij Rai ordered that since petitions related to the matter have also been filed at the Supreme Court, the case should be presented before the bench only after a decision is issued by the apex court.
Ram Bahadur Kisan, the information officer for the Kaski District Court, said that petitions have been lodged at the Supreme Court challenging the Office of the Attorney General’s decision to amend the charges against Lamichhane. Therefore, the district court has directed that the application be presented before the bench only after the Supreme Court issues its order,” he added.
The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) instructed district government attorney offices to amend the charge sheets against Lamichhane, allowing them to withdraw organized crime and money laundering charges against the RSP chairperson.
Three separate petitions have been filed against the decision at the Supreme Court.
Lamichhane has been facing charges of cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering in several district courts.
