KATHMANDU: The government has issued an ordinance to amend the Voters’ Roll Act, 2017.
President Ram Chandra Paudel issued the ordinance on the recommendation of Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Wednesday.
“President Ram Chandra Paudel has issued ‘Ordinance to Amend Voters’ Roll Act, 2017, on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers as per Article 114 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal, 2015,” reads a press release issued by the Office of the President on Wednesday.
This is the first ordinance issued by the interim government formed after the Gen Z protest, which toppled the elected government led by KP Sharma Oli.
The ordinance has paved the legal way for the Election Commission to proceed with preparations for the elections for the House of Representatives scheduled for March 5.
