KATHMANDU: The Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal has unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming House of Representatives elections, outlining a blueprint for the socio-economic transformation of Nepali society.
JSP Nepal leaders, including Chairperson Upendra Yadav, unveiled the manifesto at a program in Kathmandu on Friday.
The party has said in the manifesto that although the country has undergone political change following various movements, several issues, including federal restructuring of the state, the system of governance, proportional representation based on equal population, the electoral system, the judiciary, and the right to social justice, remain flawed.
JSP Nepal Chairperson Upendra Yadav said that since the incomplete Constitution has merely enabled the accumulation of power through authority and invited political instability, it must be completed and made universally acceptable.
He added that the party aims to establish a participatory and inclusive democracy, ensure equitable prosperity with economic and social justice through good governance and integrity, and create a welfare state with social security by strengthening the proportional electoral system and inclusiveness.
Yadav also said that the party’s policy is to maintain balanced relations with all friendly nations based on national interest and to expand bilateral and multilateral ties to move forward on the path of peace, stability, economic transformation, and prosperity.
Stating that the Constitution is incomplete, Yadav said there is a need to form a high-level Constitutional Review Commission comprising constitutional experts and amend, revise, or rewrite it based on the commission’s recommendations.
The party has pledged to reform and systematize all necessary sectors, including the financial sector, adopt policies to mobilize youth within the country, and establish at least one modern multi-specialty hospital in each province. It has also committed to a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and to ensuring good governance for citizens.
