KATHMANDU: Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP)-Nepal has decided to continue its support to the government.
The party’s Central Committee meeting, which lasted for three days in Lalitpur, concluded with the decision to maintain its backing for the coalition government of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML.
JSP Nepal Spokesperson Manish Suman said after the meeting that no decision was made to withdraw support from the government. “The party’s support the government remains intact,” Suman said. He added that the meeting, however, concluded that the current government has become ineffective in addressing corruption, ensuring good governance, promoting development and amending the constitution.
“The meeting also expressed disagreement with the ordinance process and demanded the withdrawal of the land-related ordinance. The party, however, has decided to support the other five ordinances,” Suman added.
The meeting also expressed support for the “No Cable Car” campaign in Taplejung district and urged the government to resolve the issue through dialogue and negotiation.
Suman also said that the meeting decided to complete the conventions of all local level and sister organizations by mid-April.
“Once all conventions are completed, JSP Nepal plans to launch a 100-day public outreach campaign along the Hulaki Highway, Mid-Hills Highway and Himalayan Highway,” Suman added.
