KATHMANDU: Two Madhesh-centric political parties have also jumped on the party unification bandwagon.
Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal and Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) Nepal on Sunday evening signed an agreement for party unification.
A meeting of the office-bearers from the two parties held in Kathmandu on Sunday made the decision. JSP Nepal Chairperson Upendra Yadav and LSP Nepal Chairperson Mahantha Thakur signed the agreement on behalf of their respective parties.
“The unification was taken with a commitment to institutionalize the federal democratic republican system and to strengthen progressive agendas such as federalism, identity, proportional inclusion and social justice, to build a just society,” a joint statement issued after the meeting said.
However, the two sides have not clarified what the party will be called, how its organisational structure will be shaped, or how party leaders will be accommodated.
