JSP Nepal decides to reconsider support extended to Oli govt

KATHMANDU: The Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal has decided to reconsider its support to the government led by CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli.

A two-day meeting of the party’s Central Executive Committee held at its central office in Balkumari, Lalitpur, took the decision.

JSP Nepal Spokesperson Manish Suman said the meeting instructed its parliamentary party to review its position on supporting the Oli-led government. “The government has failed to curb corruption. It has also failed to ensure good governance, and despite being formed on the basis of constitutional amendment commitments, it has shown no interest in pursuing them,” said Suman. “Therefore, the party has decided to reconsider its support and instructed the parliamentary party to take a final decision.”

The Executive Committee has also decided to conduct provincial conventions across all seven provinces in early September, according to Suman.

The party also nominated five new members – Shashikapur Miya, Karima Begum, Sudhir Nath Pandey, Kailash Gurung and Nilam Yadav – to the Central Executive Committee. These leaders had recently joined JSP Nepal after leaving other political parties.
