KATHMANDU: Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Chairman Upendra Yadav has been elected to the House of Representatives from the Bara-2 constituency. He received 28,415 votes.
His closest contender Shiva Chandra Kushwaha of Janamat Party got 23,334 votes. UML’s Purushottam Paudel came third with 10,216 votes, while former DIG Ramesh Kharel of Rashtriya Swatantra Party secured only 2,829 votes.
A total of 69,107 votes were cast in the by-election in Bara-2 which had become vacant with the election of JSP’s Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav to the position of Vice President.
Yadav earlier was defeated by Janamat Party Chairman CK Raut in the general election held on November 20, 2022.
