KATHMANDU: Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) has initiated internal discussions regarding the upcoming elections for the positions of President and Vice President.
On Sunday, the party’s executive committee discussed the matter after engaging in talks with other political parties about the elections. Prakash Adhikari, JSP’s spokesperson, said that the executive committee also discussed the upcoming legislative session of parliament, along with other relevant issues.
“Our attention has naturally turned to the upcoming elections. However, we have not yet made any decisions because it is unclear who will be contesting in the election,” Adhikari said, adding: “We are currently in discussions with other political parties and will make necessary decisions regarding the presidential and vice-presidential elections at a later time.”
JSP has supported CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to become the prime minister and is soliciting his support for his leader to become the Vice President.
The elections for the President and Vice President are scheduled for March 9th and March 17th, respectively.
