KATHMANDU: The search and rescue team of the Armed Police Force (APF) has recovered a jeep and two bodies from the Sunkoshi River.
Three persons had gone missing when a jeep plunged into the Sunkoshi River at Loukon along BP HIghway in Golanjor Rural Municipality-7 of SIndhuli district on Friday.
CTEVT’s Director of Planning Division Krishna Bahadur KC, Director of Policy Formulation and Projects Yam Prasad Bhurtel and Technical Officer Bhanu Poudel were in the jeep, according to CTEVT Vice Chairperson Khagendra Prasad Adhikari.
“Rescue workers have recovered two bodies and wreckage of the ill-fated jeep. The bodies were inside the jeep. The identity of the bodies hasn’t been established yet,” DSP Shailendra Thapa, assistant spokesperson for the APF, told Himal Press.
According to Thapa, the jeep was recovered some 200 meters downstream from the accident site, about 30 feet below the river surface.
“The search for the third missing passenger is ongoing,” he added.
