KATHMANDU: Jazeera Airways of Kuwait is resuming its flights to Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa on March 9.
Issuing a statement on Wednesday, the airline said it would initially fly to Bhairahawa three times a week from its hub in Kuwait City.
The flights will be operated from Bhairahawa on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The flight will leave Bhairahawa airport at 8:05 am and reach Kuwait City at 10:55 am (local time).
Similarly, the flight from Kuwait City will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. It will leave Kuwait City at 11:50 pm (local time) and arrive in Bhairahawa at 7:20 am the next day.
According to the statement, the one-way fare on the Bhairhawa-Kuwait City route is Rs 28,836/- from Bhairawaha to Kuwait.
“In line with Jazeera Airways’ commitment to support GBIA airport and tourism in Nepal, we are working with the airline in promoting Lumbini- the birthplace of Lord Buddha, as a spiritual destination among South Asian expats, especially Indian nationals living in the Middle East, to ensure maximum footfall into GBIA, concurrently helping the tourism ecosystem of the entire western region and the overall economic enhancement of the nation,” said Rabi Chandra Singh, chairman of Society International Travel Services – the GSA of Jazeera in Nepal – in the statement.
Jazeera is the first and only foreign airline flying to Bhairahawa. It had stopped flight services to Bhairahawa on December 21 last year, citing bad weather.
