KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) has taken a lead of 152 runs over Bagmati Province on Day 1 of their Jay Trophy Men’s Elite Cup 2024 match in Janakpur on Wednesday.
Invited to bat first in the two-day match, TAC scored 276 runs in the allotted 60 overs, thanks to half-centuries by Imran Sheikh and Basir Ahamad. In reply, Bagmati scored 124 runs for the loss of five wickets when umpires called stumps.
TAC added 103 runs for the loss of the first wicket. Opener Imran Sheikh scored 722 off 104 balls, while the other opener Trit Raj Das got 44 runs off 78 balls. Bhim Sharki contributed 32 off 51 balls. Although captain Binod Bhandari was out for a duck, Basih Ahamad struck an unbeaten 53 off 64 balls. Kushal Malla scored a not-out 35 from 43 balls.
Bipin Acharya claimed three wickets for Bagmati, while Captain Sandeep Lamichhane took two wickets.
Bagmati made a slow start with the bat as its batters got the start but failed to convert into big scores. Openers Ashutosh Ghiraiya and Rit Gautam scored 11 and 21, respectively, while Uttam Magar hit 28 runs from 39 balls. Shubh Kanskar got 34 runs from 35 balls Bagmati, while Nandan Yadav and Bipin Acharya are unbeaten scoring 18 and 1 run, respectively
Akash Chand took three wickets for TAC, while Sompal Kami claimed two.
