Jay Trophy red-ball cricket tournament from January 5

KATHMANDU: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has published the fixtures of the two-day Jay Trophy cricket tournament.

The tournament, which was previously organized as Elite Cup, has been renamed as Jay Trophy by CAN in honor of its former president Jaykumar Nath Shah.

The Jay Trophy matches will be held simultaneously in Birgunj and Janakpur. A total of four teams – Bagmati Province, Madhesh Province, Nepal Police Club and Tribhuvan Army Club –  are participating in the red ball cricket competition.

Madhesh Province will take on Bagmati Province in Janakpur, while the Nepal Police Club will meet the Tribhuvan Army Club in Birgunj on January 5-6.

Similarly, Tribhuvan Army Club takes on Bagmati Province in Janakpur and Madhesh Province will play against Nepal Police Club in Birgunj on January 8-9. Likewise, the Nepal Police Club will play against Bagmati Province in Janakpur and the Tribhuvan Army Club will meet Madhesh Province in Birgunj on January 11-12.

The first and second teams after the round-robin stage will qualify for the final, which will be held in a three-day format, in Birgunj on January 14-16.

January 5-6:

  • Bagmati Province vs Madhesh Province (Janakpur)
  • Nepal Police Club vs Tribhuvan Army Club (Birgunj)

January 8-9:

  • Tribhuvan Army Club vs Bagmati Province (Janakpur)
  • Madhesh Province vs Nepal Police Club (Birgunj)

January 11-12:

  • Nepal Police Club vs Bagmati Province (Janakpur)
  • Tribhuvan Army Club vs Madhesh Province (Birgunj)

January 14-16:

  • Final Match (Birgunj)
