KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Club (NPC) ended Day 1 of the Jay Trophy Men’s Elite-2024 final against Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) at 85/2 in Janakpur on Tuesday.
Invited to bat first after losing the toss in the three-day match, Kushal Bhurtel scored an unbeaten half-century as NPC reached 85 runs for the loss of two wickets in 17 overs before play was halted due to thick fog. Bhurtel played an attractive knock of 50 off 51 balls which included six fours. Amit Shrestha scored 20 runs from 39 balls. Amit Shrestha contributed 20 runs off 39 balls for NPC.
Only 17 overs were bowled on the opening day due to bad lights. Each team is allowed to bowl a maximum of 80 overs per inning.
Sompal Kami and Sahab Alam claimed a wicket each for TAC.
NPC and TAC progressed to the final after finishing first and second, respectively, after the group stage which also included Madhesh Province and Bagmati Province.
