KATHMANDU: Japan is providing a grant assistance of 2.08 billion Japanese yen (approximately Rs 1.95 billion) for the repair and reconstruction of the BP Highway.
A cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to accept the Japanese grant assistance, according to Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung.
Floods in September last year damaged various sections of the BP Highway—the shortest road link to Koshi Province and eastern Madhesh Province from the federal capital Kathmandu.
The 158-kilometer highway was built with Japanese grant assistance.
Earlier, the government had requested the Japanese government for a grant to reconstruct the damaged sections of the highway.
