Japan helps build classroom building for Dhanusha school

KATHMANDU: A new classroom building at Shree Rastriya Basic School in Dhanusha District, Madhesh Province, was inaugurated on Monday.

The facility was built under the Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects supported by the Government of Japan, a statement issued by the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu said.

According to the embassy, the project is being implemented by a Japanese NGO, Plan International Japan. “The project aims to improve access to quality education and promote a gender-responsive and inclusive learning environment at the basic education level in Dhanusha District, by constructing and improving school facilities, providing training to enhance teachers’ capabilities, and encouraging community-led initiatives in education,” the embassy said in the statement.

Tamura Takahiro, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of Japan to Nepal, attended the inauguration ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Tamura appreciated the efforts of all those involved in the project. He expressed hope that the new school building and facilities will be properly managed and maintained.

He also encouraged students to strengthen ties between Japan and Nepal and play a role in Nepal’s development in the future.
