Jabbor Kayumov appointed as CEO and Managing Director of Ncell

KATHMANDU: Ncell Axiata Limited (Ncell) has announced the appointment of Jabbor Kayumov as its new CEO and Managing Director.

Issuing a statement, the company said the decision was made during its board meeting held on Tuesday. Jabbor officially assumed his responsibilities on May 10, succeeding Andy Chong, it added.

Jabbor Kayumov brings nearly two decades of senior management experience in the telecommunications industry, having served as CEO in prominent companies such as Telia (formerly TeliaSonera) and Vimpelcom (now VEON). Prior to joining Ncell, he held the position of CEO at Digicel Trinidad & Tobago and Digicel Jamaica until April 2023, where he successfully led the transformation of business operations toward becoming a digital operator.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Jabbor Kayumov emphasized Ncell’s impressive footprint, strong brand portfolio, and talented team. “I will be focusing on working with the Ncell team to deliver a step-up in business performance and contribute towards the digital enhancement of Nepal in-line with Axiata Group’s broader vision of Advancing Asia and commitment to improving the lives of Nepalese,” the statement quoted Jabbor as saying. “It is a matter of pride to serve over 16 million customers in Nepal.”
