KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Arjun Narsingh KC has said people are losing trust in the government as the investigation into corruption cases is being influenced.
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, KC said unless the investigation is taken to a logical conclusion initiating investigation alone would mean nothing.
“The untimely transfer of investigative officers of Nepal Police shows that it is now impossible to control corruption,” KC said. “As officers are being transferred after 5-7 months, people have lost hopes that corruption will come under control.”
The government recently transferred five Additional Inspector Generals (AIGs) of Nepal Police, including Shyam Lal Gyawali who was spearheading the investigation into the Bhutanese refugee scam, allegedly under pressure from NC leaders.
Former home minister and influential NC leader, Bal Krishna Khand, is under detention for investigation into the case.
