Iranian couple arrested with undeclared foreign currency from TIA Representative Image

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested an Iranian couple at Tribhuvan International Airport for possessing undeclared foreign currencies.

According to Nepal Police, Yazdanyar Majdiahi (40) and his wife Pegha Taheri (35) were detained in the baggage checking area of the departure lounge with $12,500, 4,200 British Pound, 1,750 euros, 8,800 Indian rupees, 16,500 UAD dirham, and 840,000 Sri Lankan rupee.

The couple was preparing to board a SriLankan Airlines flight to Colombo.

Police have handed the couple over to the Department of Revenue Investigation, Pulchowk, for further investigation.
