SURKHET: Inisha BK (16), who had been living in Birendranagar Municipality-1 in Surkhet, died under mysterious circumstances on March 5.
On that day, Inisha had left home, saying she was going for tuition classes. She was later found unconscious in Janajagaran Community Forest in Birendranagar-4.
Police rushed her to Karnali Province Hospital, where she was declared dead shortly afterwards. A 16-year-old boy, who was arrested at the scene, has told the police that Inisha lost consciousness due to excessive bleeding following a physical relationship with him.
The post-mortem report also showed that the cause of death was excessive bleeding resulting from deep internal injuries to her genital area. Police arrested three more individuals on suspicion of involvement in the incident and began further investigation.
DSP Mohan Jung Budhathapa, the spokesperson for the District Police Office, Surkhet, said that the investigation report has been submitted to the Surkhet District Attorney’s Office. “We prepared the investigation report based on the statements of the accused and the evidence collected,” he said. “The case will now proceed under the district attorney’s office.”
DSP Budhthapa added that some technical reports related to the case have already been received, while others are still pending. The remaining reports can be submitted during court proceedings, he added
“Since the police have completed their part of the investigation, the legal process will now move forward through the court and the district attorney’s office,” he said, confirming that the investigation into Inisha BK’s death has been concluded.
According to police, the death appears to have been caused by excessive bleeding following sexual contact.
Police have sought a life sentence against the 16-year-old boy on charges of rape and homicide. Cases related to homicide have also been filed against the three others for being present at the scene and failing to help the victim.
Following protests by Inisha’s relatives, who alleged that she was gang-raped and murdered, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police was also deployed for investigation.
Police said advanced forensic techniques were used to determine the cause of death. The victim’s family has refused to receive the body until those involved are brought to justice.
Inisha’s body has remained at the Karnali Province Hospital mortuary for the past 19 days.
