KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has expressed deep sorrow over the incidents and casualties that occurred across the country during the Gen Z-led protests on Monday.
Issuing a press statement, Ministry Spokesperson Anand Kafle extended condolences to the bereaved families and expressed sympathy for those injured in the demonstrations that took place in Kathmandu and other parts of the country.
The ministry added in the statement that the government has arranged free treatment for the injured and wished them a speedy recovery.
According to the ministry’s preliminary assessment, infiltration by various vested groups during the protests escalated the violence and created a tragic situation.
The ministry also urged young people, students, parents, teachers, civil society and all concerned stakeholders to exercise restraint, remain patient, and help maintain peace, while being cautious of individuals or groups trying to exploit the situation for their own interests.
