POKHARA: An Indian national has been arrested in Pokhara with six kilograms of gold and around Rs 6.3 million in cash.
According to the District Police Office, Kaski, Surjit Bhowmik of Medinipur in West Bengal State of India, currently residing in Mohariya Tol in Pokhara-2, was arrested on Tuesday morning.
“We arrested him based on a tip-off that he was using gold bought from illegal channels to create jewelry in a house rented from Kabidrna Prasad Shrestha. We arrested him at around 4:30 am on Tuesday,” said SP Mohan Thapa, chief of the District Police Office, Kaski. “We are preparing to send him to the Department of Revenue Investigation for further investigation.”
Police also recovered 13 checks of different banks from Bhowmik.
