KATHMANDU: Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi is arriving in Kathmandu on November 20 for a five-day visit at the invitation of Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel.

During his visit, General Dwivedi will pay tributes at the Bir Memorial at Army Pavilion, Tundikhel, and receive a guard of honour at the Nepal Army Headquarters, the Nepal Army said in a statement on Wednesday.

He will hold discussions with Chief of Army Staff Sigdel, engage with students at the Command and Staff College, and visit the Nepal Army’s Western Division Headquarters. General Dwivedi will return to India on November 24.

Continuing the tradition between the two armies, President Ram Chandra Poudel will confer the honorary rank of General of the Nepal Army upon General Dwivedi in a special ceremony on November 21.

General Dwivedi is also scheduled to make courtesy calls on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Defence Minister Manbir Rai.
