Nepal defeated India in the league round, but suffered defeat in the final

KATHMANDU: India has won the title of CAVA Women’s Volleyball Nations League, defeating hosts Nepal by 3-2 sets at the Dasharath Stadium Covered Hall in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Although Nepal was down 20-23 in the first set, it won five consecutive points to take the set 25-23. India registered an easy 25-14 victory in the second set. Nepal came back in the game, taking the third set 25-22. But India won the fourth set 25-21 to take the match to the deciding set.

India registered an easy 15-5 victory in the deciding set to lift the title.

Nepal entered the final with a straight-set victory over Iran on Tuesday, while India defeated Sri Lanka in straight sets.

Iran secured third position, defeating Sri Lanka in straight sets in the first match on Wednesday.

Two players from Nepal – Saraswati Chaudhary and Salina Shrestha – found their place in the dream team. Three players from India and two from Iran were also named in the dream team.
