KATHMANDU: India has upped development aid allocations to Nepal for the new fiscal year by one billion Indian rupees (INR) to INR 8 billion.
The Union Budget for fiscal year 2026/27, unveiled on February 1, has increased development aid allocations to several key neighbouring countries, reflecting a continued emphasis on its “Neighbourhood First” policy amid evolving regional dynamics, according to WION.
In the latest Union Budget, India has raised financial support for Bhutan to INR 22.88 billion. Similarly, allocations to Afghanistan have gone up to INR 1.5 billion, and Sri Lanka to INR 4 billion.
