KATHMANDU: Indian finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman has requested Minister for Finance Prakash Sharan Mahat to expedite the implementation of an agreement to facilitate cross-border digital payments which was signed during Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s visit to India in the last week of May.
Sitharaman made the request during a meeting with Dr Mahat on the sidelines of the 3rd Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting in Gujarat, India, on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the two finance ministers discussed matters related to bilateral relations and mutual cooperation, according to Mahat’s secretariat.
Both ministers called for the timely resolution of any issues that may arise in projects being implemented in Nepal with Indian assistance. They also discussed bilateral trade and investment.
Mahat requested his Indian counterpart for the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for electricity trade signed between Nepal and India during PM Dahal’s India visit.
