KATHMANDU: India secured the ACC Women’s U19 Asia Cup 2024 title with a convincing 41-run victory over Bangladesh at the Bayuemas Over, Kuala Lumpur, on Sunday.
Batting first, India scored 117 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. G Trisha scored 52 off 47 balls. Although wickets fell regularly on the other end, Trisha played a fighting knock which included four fours and two sixes. Mithila Vinod, Niki Prasad and Aayushi Shukla contributed 17, 12 and 10, respectively for India.
Farjana Easmin claimed four wickets for Bangladesh, while Nishita Akter Nishi got two and Habiba Islam had a wicket to her name.
Chasing a target of 118 runs to lift the title, Bangladesh’s batting order crumbled. Juairiya Ferdous scored 22 off 30 balls while opener Fahomida Choya contributed 18 runs from 24 balls. Other Bangladeshi batters failed to reach double digits.
Aayushi Shukla claimed three wickets for India, while Parunika Sisodia and Sonam Yadav secured two wickets each to bundle out Bangladesh cheaply. VJ Joshit also claimed one wicket.
Nepal finished third in the six-nation competition which also included Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Malaysia.
