Independent lawmaker Singh signs petition supporting Rabi Lamichhane

KATHMANDU: Independent lawmaker Dr Amaresh Kumar Singh has signed in support of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President and former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.

Singh visited the RSP headquarters in Banasthali on Sunday to formally show his support for Lamichhane.

Lamichhane is currently in Rupandehi jail awaiting trial in a cooperative deposit embezzlement case.

Speaking on the occasion, Singh accused the major political parties that have ruled the country for the past three decades of impoverishing the country, burdening it with foreign debt and spreading corruption at all levels. “Rabi Lamichhane has only been in politics for three years,” Singh said. “The misappropriation of cooperative funds was committed by leaders of the major parties.”

Earlier, former Prime Minister and Chairperson of the Nepal Socialist Party (Naya Shakti), Dr Baburam Bhattarai, and Janamat Party Chairperson CK Raut, among others, had signed in support of Lamichhane.

RSP, which claims that Lamichhane was framed, has been organizing a nationwide signature campaign to rally support for its President.
