LUMBINI: Police have confirmed the identities of all seven victims of the Rolpa jeep accident.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when a jeep heading from Ghartigaun to Talabang fell 400 meters off the road and plunged into a ravine near Pareba Chahara in Madi Rural Municipality-4.
According to DSP Bhimsen Lama, chief of District Police Office, Rolpa, Junmaya Khadka (33), Karma Gharti Magar (50), Khadga Bahadur Dangi (77), Amrita Gharti (30) and her 18-month-old daughter from Talabang, and Ramkali Pun (33) and Jhuplal Dangi (70) from Rangsi in Parivartan Rural Municipality-2 died in the accident.
Eight others were injured in the accident. Six have been transferred to other hospitals, while Khagendra Batha is receiving treatment in Rolpa and Dil Kumari Gharti Magar, who suffered minor injuries, has been discharged after treatment.
The jeep reportedly rolled back while reversing on a landslide-hit road and fell 400 meters into the ravine.
