ICC President Barclay pays courtesy call on PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: The President of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Greg Barclay, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Wednesday.

A wide range of issues related to cricket development were discussed during the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence in Baluwatar.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Dahal said ICC President Barclay’s visit to Nepal has given priority and significance to Nepali cricket. “The decision to accord national pride status to the cricket stadium project shows that the government has put cricket infrastructure development in high priority,” Dahal said. “The government has laid a high emphasis on the 2027 U-19 Women’s Cricket World Cup. We expect important support and cooperation from the ICC as well.”

In response, Barclay said ICC would extend all possible support and cooperation to Nepal.

Chief Secretary Dr Baikuntha Aryal and the president and office-bearers of the Cricket Association Nepal (CAN) were also present at the meeting.
