KATHMANDU: Controversial businessperson Durga Prasai, who is spearheading a campaign to protest against the government, nationality, religion, culture, and people, said he would continue the campaign come what may.
“I am ready to die, but I won’t stop this demonstration,” Prasai said, addressing the demonstration at Balkhu intersection in Kathmandu on Thursday. “Political leaders have made Nepal a country of smugglers,” he said.
Prasai also said UML was deliberately troubling people supporting his campaign. “UML is clashing with us. Its leader Mahesh Basnet is bankrolled by Marwari businesspeople,” he said, adding, “Now, we should take over Singha Durbar (the administrative center of the country). All of you be prepared. You, the people, should move forward now.”
Prasai also claimed that the emergence of a new political system was inevitable in Nepal. “KP Sharma Oli left Kathmandu after seeing a huge crowd of people in my demonstration,” he added.
Followers of the royal regime, such as Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Gyanendra Shahi, among others, have reached Balkhu to participate in Prasai’s demonstration.
