I will send resignation from UAE if party decides: Minister Bhandari Sharat Singh Bhandari

KATHMANDU: Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security, Sharat Singh Bhandari, has said that he would send his resignation from the UAE if the party takes a formal decision to exit the KP Sharma Oli-led coalition government.

“If my party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) Nepal, decides while I am still in the UAE, I will resign and return home,” Bhandari told Himal Press over the phone from Dubai on Friday morning. “As a party worker, it is my duty to abide by the party leadership’s decision. If the party wants to recall me, I must resign. This is the essence of politics.”

Minister Bhandari made the comment after LSP Nepal Chairperson Mahantha Thakur said in Sarlahi on Thursday that he had directed Minister Bhandari to be prepared to resign.

“Our party has clearly said that it would reject some of the ordinances introduced by the government,” he added.

Bhandari left for the UAE on Tuesday to inaugurate the service of issuing labor approvals for foreign employment from the Gulf nation itself. He is scheduled to return home on Saturday.

Interestingly, Bhandari had lost his ministerial position during his UAE visit in the first week of March last year.

Out of the six ordinances introduced by the government in the second week of January, LSP has already decided to reject the land-related ordinance, stating it goes against people’s interests.
