I was subjected to harassment in party meeting, says RSP General Secretary Dhakal

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) General Secretary Mukul Dhakal left the party’s central committee meeting midway, claiming that he was subjected to harassment.

He accused the party leadership of resorting to harassment when he demanded a live broadcast of the meeting.

Dhaka also alleged that RSP President Rabi Lamichhane consistently blames others for mistakes. “He acts as if the position he holds never makes mistakes,” Dhakal told journalists after coming out of the central committee meeting. “They tried to pin all the blame on the General Secretary.”

Dhakal also challenged the party to use a lie detector to determine who was being truthful. “Let’s use a lie detector machine to check if what I’m saying is true or false,” he said. “The way I was treated in the meeting was irresponsible.”

He also claimed that the President and Vice Presidents stated they do not recognize him as the General Secretary anymore.

Dhakal stirred controversy in the party after spilling the findings of his study report to the media before presenting it to the party. The report, which he prepared after meeting party leaders and cadres of 38 districts, paints a grim picture of the party’s future.
