I am not on the run, says Prasai from hiding

KATHMANDU: Durga Prasai, who had been evading arrest after engaging in unruly activities during the pro-monarchy protests in Tinkune of Kathmandu, has released a video message, claiming that he is not on the run.

Prasai, who served as the commander of the pro-monarchy movement, claimed that he had taken refuge in a temple somewhere in Kathmandu to protect his life. “I want to tell the security forces—I am not far from you. I have not run away. The police administration does not need to search for me. I was born to be secure, not to flee,” Prasai said in the video.

“I broke through the police cordon on Friday after learning there was a plan to kill me,” he added.

Police have made multiple arrests following Friday’s incident that claimed two lives. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leaders Dhawal Shamsher Rana, who is also a member of the House of Representatives, and Rabindra Misha have been arrested, while the coordinator of the protest, Navaraj Subedi, has been placed under house arrest.
