KATHMANDU: The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives has sought official documents of Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Nepal Police, Ghyam Lal Gyawali.
Committee chair Ram Hari Khatiwada told Himal Press that the house panel sought the documents from the Nepal Police headquarters through the Ministry of Home Affairs after a complaint about AIG Gyawali’s date of birth was lodged with the committee. “We have written to the home ministry to provide us AIG Gyawali’s documents,” he added.
A writ petition was also filed at the Supreme Court demanding government authorities investigate AIG Gyawali’s date of birth. However, the apex court refused to register the petition.
AIG Gyawali has been accused of tampering with government documents to change his date of birth to join the police service.
