KATHMANDU: The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee of the House of Representatives has issued a four-point directive to the government to rescue and rehabilitate disaster-hit people.
A meeting of the committee held on Tuesday instructed the government to utilize all possible means to expedite relief and rehabilitation efforts; prevent arbitrary increases in airfare; immediately repair roads to restore transportation and arrange air transport for districts without road access, monitor markets to percent price hikes of essential goods and ensure swift delivery of relief to victims; and promptly rescue stranded travelers and help them reach their destinations.
The committee also directed the government to take all necessary precautions to prevent further loss of life and property.
Additionally, it instructed the government to immediately repair infrastructure damaged by rainfall, including irrigation systems, water canals drinking water facilities, electricity, telephone lines and roads.
