KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) staged a protest in Sunday’s meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday as well, demanding an impartial investigation into the visit visa controversy.
The session was briefly disrupted after lawmakers from RSP and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) stood up from their seats in protest as soon as the meeting began. Although Speaker Devraj Ghimire urged members to proceed with the scheduled budget discussions for the fiscal year 2025/26, the protesting lawmakers did not agree to resume regular proceedings.
Speaking from the rostrum, RSP lawmaker Ashim Shah said their protest would continue until there is an impartial investigation into the visit visa case. “It is unfortunate that such a serious matter was being sidelined in Parliament,” he added.
After Speaker Ghimire resumed normal proceedings, RSP lawmakers chanted slogans and surrounded the well.
