KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal has insisted that the parliamentary obstruction will continue until Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli explains to the House the reason behind the dismissal of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Executive Director Kulman Ghising.

Speaking to reporters at the federal parliament premises on Wednesday, Dahal said that the Prime Minister must justify the government’s decision. He also urged PM Oli to address the opposition’s demands in a constructive manner.

“If his explanation fails to satisfy us, the obstruction will persist,” Dahal stated. “That day, I left the meeting after the three parties reached an agreement on transitional justice. Not a single word was spoken about Ghising during the discussion.”

Dahal said he feels deceived by the Prime Minister’s move to decide on Ghising’s removal after discussions on transitional justice. “A false narrative is being spread that he traded Ghising’s position for a deal on transitional justice. This has deeply saddened me,” Dahal added.

Oli says there is nothing to justify

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Oli has said that there was no need for him to explain the removal of Kulman Ghising.

“The government removes one employee, but some people are crying over it,” Oli said, addressing a national volunteer assembly organized by the National Youth Federation Nepal in Kathmandu on Wednesday. He added that the Prime Minister is not obligated to justify every administrative decision.

“Appointing one person and removing another is answer enough from the Prime Minister,” Oli said, adding that the government does not operate by appointing individuals based on external pressure or favoritism.
