KATHMANDU: The meeting of the House of Representatives scheduled for 3 pm on Tuesday has been postponed until 11 am on Wednesday.

An all-party meeting held at Singha Durbar reached a consensus to postpone the House session. CPN-UML Chief Whip Padam Giri said the House session was adjourned as both the Prime Minister and Speaker will remain busy on Tuesday. “Both the Prime Minister and Speaker will have to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Justice Bishwambar Prasad Shrestha,” Giri said, adding that CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli is also unwell.

The UML has been disrupting the House session for nearly a month now, demanding the formation of a high-level inquiry committee to probe the smuggling of gold from Tribhuvan International Airport. However, the parties reached a consensus late Monday evening to form the committee, as demanded by the main opposition, to facilitate the smooth functioning of Parliament.
